Featuring forward contemporary lines, the Atome home blends aesthetic and technique to optimise energy management.
The essence of innovation
Atome voluntarily chose not to label its homes with the actual standard because its performance goes way beyond any defined government recognised label. Each owner is handed out a certification document for the supply chain, materials' energy efficiency and house's detailed heat balance, among other documentation.
The entire RAL colour palette, matt / semi-matt / semi-glossy / glossy finishes, design (Corten steel / marble) and custom silkscreen printing is available for photovoltaic panels
Key elements of a home from Atome
An effective, protective cover
The house's cover protects from the winter cold as well as the hot summer weather, while maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures year-round. A simple principle is to limit heat transfer between the interior and the exterior. The choice and quality of materials ensure air-tight at building envelope. The consumption needed for heating and cooling is greatly reduced. It is equivalent to Minergie-A Ecolabel, less that 15kWh/m²/year for heating, and halves the current average.
The building walls are equipped with photovoltaic panels. Patented solar façade modules maximise solar energy harvest. Building orientation, cast shadows limitation, and dimensions of the panels enhance power generation. Where possible, the use of geothermics will improve energy efficiency. A 180m² house from Atome will produce an average of 30'000 kWh/year, representing 6 times more energy than needed.
Durable salt water battery
Salt water batteries store, collect, measure, and redistribute the energy produced. Via the mini grid community, you can mutualise energy production and optimise energy storing capacity according to average consumption.
Home automation and monitoring
An automated interactive module takes intelligent housing to the next level. Photovoltaic panels, heat pump, energy storage batteries and electrical equipment are all linked to a core server to allow a remote management of the house. The interface informs of energy production and consumption, then creates reports for you to analyse and adapt your consumption and lifestyle in order to reduce your ecological impact.
The Atome house is equipped with a rain water storage tank to reduce clean water use: WC’s, washing machine, garden water. Nothing is wasted, everything is transformed.
Heating and cooling
Atome houses are equipped with a reversible heat pump system that provides both heating during winter, and cooling during summer, all powered by the house. Heating and cooling stem from heated floors. Hybrid roof panels provide direct heat to the water tank.
SUSTAINABLE OR RECYCLED MATERIALS
The materials used by Atome to build a home are traceable and locally managed or found within a limited area.
Except for silicon cells which can only be sourced from Asian suppliers.
Precast concrete foundations
Precast concrete foundations guarantee the best value and quick installation. The finishes are extremely clean and the set up is faster than that of conventional foundations.
Wood is a solid, renewable raw material. Atome sources wood from sustainable forests in Switzerland and France.
Pulp insulation from recycled newspapers constitutes a great thermal and acoustic insulation which is also a renewable material.
We use pulp insulation rom recycled newspapers: a great thermal and acoustic insulation which is also a renewable material.
Aluminum was chosen for aesthetic reasons and, as interior insulation, for its calorific quality. Aluminum increases the caloric input of the house and is also a recycled product.
ATOME: THE BENEFITS
Concretely, what are the benefits of a home from Atome compared to a conventional home?
- It is sustainable and has a low environmental impact.
- It offers significantly more space and natural light.
- It presents an innovative and optimized power solution: One house saves more than an average of 4’000.-/year in energy costs, a direct gain for the owner or tenant.
- It doesn’t cost any more than a conventional house and offers superior advantage: power generation, energy monitoring and savings, smart consumption management… Atome delivers turn key homes for 4’900.-/m² net, excluding taxes (excluding land).
When I buy a home from Atome, what is the difference on my energy bill?
When the house stays linked to the main grid, to ensure a security back up option. However, there will normally be no annual energy consumption to pay for.
The house will cover year-round normal energy consumption.
If inhabitants use more energy, they can tap into Atome housing project’s grid.
In the exceptional case of overconsumption inside the housing project, inhabitants will find energy source from an energy supplier, with regular fees attached.
